Sponsor the Team

The Mountain Bike Team is seeking sponsors to support purchasing team uniforms (kits), race-day equipment (spare tires, tubes, bike stands, replacement parts, etc.), and team supplies (first aid, food, team event tents and chairs, etc.) Sponsorship funding also supports First Aid training for our volunteer coaches, allows for travel stipends to attend races, and supports a variety of operational costs essential to delivering the program.

Team Sponsor Benefits

As a sponsor of the Mountain Bike Team, you will be supporting youth development and each student-athlete’s ability to develop strong body, strong mind and strong character through mountain biking. You will help change students’ lives by bringing into student’s lives a sport they can enjoy far beyond their junior high and high school years.

Financial Needs:

Without your generous support the Mountain Bike Team would not exist. Your financial support makes it possible to offer this program to the students of BASIS Phoenix.

In order for a student to participate in this program they need the appropriate equipment. A rider requires a mountain bike along with all the necessary maintenance to keep their bike running. Students also must pay for team uniforms, helmets, trainers, indoor training fees, heart rate monitors, nutrition, transportation, lodging, race fees, insurance, and other safety equipment and gear. The cost of participating in this one-of-a-kind experience is substantial.

The growth and development both mentally and physically for each student is worth the investment. With your support we can lower the expenses for each rider and get more students involved. Please consider becoming a team sponsor and support the BASIS Phoenix Mountain Bike Team. Be a part of giving more students access to this life changing athletic program.

About the Mountain Bike Team

The BASIS Phoenix Mountain Bike Team is a coed cross country racing team that competes against riders across the state. The team includes 6th-12th grade students who are serious about challenging themselves to excel in both academics and the demanding endurance sport of cross-country mountain bike racing.

Volunteer coaches are the foundation of the team’s success. Coaches are trained and certified through the Arizona Cycling Association in mountain biking, concussion mitigation, trail safety, nutrition, and CPR. These volunteers develop individual training and race plans for each rider, lead the students in 3-4 training rides weekly, and manage the logistics for races across the state where students compete against 72 teams and over 1400 riders across five races.

The student athletes that participate in the Mountain Bike Team are committed to academic success and are required by BASIS Phoenix to excel in academics in order to participate. In addition to balancing their rigorous academic load, these student athletes are dedicated to exceling on the bike.

Race Details

Each race weekend requires travel to race locations across the state. Overnight stays are required to accommodate the pre-riding of the race courses and timely arrival on race day. Transportation, meals, pre-race preparation including the management, set-up, maintenance and repair of equipment are all critical for a successful race day. Each athlete races 6 to 12 miles at maximum effort. Race venues vary in elevation from 1000′ to 7000′ with temperatures at times reaching into the triple digits. These student athletes are not only succeeding in one of the most rigorous academic environments in the state, they are also exceling and evolving into elite middle school and high school endurance athletes.

Team Goals

The team’s goals are simple: have fun, ride and race safely, and deliver value to every student. Coaches are focused on creating a team culture that is welcoming, safe, and fun. We strive to teach riders that mountain biking is a life-long activity for good health, to develop a connection to the outdoors, and to enjoy nature with their families and friends. Although students are learning skills and gaining fitness, the team is most focused on teaching students how to respect each other, themselves, the environment, and their communities. We emphasize teamwork and work to create stronger, more confident student-athletes both on and off the bike. This is a unique high school and middle school team environment. The team includes novice to expert riders and we create a plan for each student athlete focused on developing strong body, strong mind and strong character through mountain biking.
